CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. (Upledger Inst.)
CranioSacral Therapy
The visceral system relies on the interconnected synchronicity between the motions of all the organs and structures of the body. At optimal health, this harmonious relationship remains stable despite the body's endless varieties of motion. But when one organ cannot move in harmony with its viscera due to abnormal tone, adhesions or displacement, it works against the body's other organs and muscular, membranous, fascial and osseous structures. This disharmony creates fixed, abnormal points of tension that the body is forced to move around. And that chronic irritation, in turn, paves the way for postural distortion, neuromuscular dysfunction, and disease processes.
Imagine an adhesion around the lungs. It would create a modified axis that demands abnormal accommodations from nearby body structures. For example, the adhesion could alter rib motion, which could then create imbalanced forces on the vertebral column and, with time, possibly develop a dysfunctional relationship with other structures. This scenario highlights just one of hundreds of possible ramifications of a small dysfunction - magnified by thousands of repetitions each day.
Visceral Manipulation relies on the palpation of normal and abnormal forces within the body. By using specific techniques, therapists can evaluate how abnormal forces interplay, overlap and affect the normal body forces at work. The goal is to help the body's normal forces remove abnormal effects, whatever their sources. Those effects can be global, encompassing many areas of bodily function. (The Barral Institute)

Master Level Reiki
An ancient healing art, Reiki, (pronounced “ray-key”) is the Japanese word for Universal Life Energy. This energy is all around us and we can channel it to help ourselves and others. The Reiki process is a simple method of hands-on healing as developed by Dr. Mikao Usui of Kyoto, Japan. When done properly, energy flows through the arms and hands of the healer and into the cells of the person being treated, enhancing and accelerating the body's natural healing process. It helps to reestablish balance and harmony on the physical, emotional, and spiritual planes so that the natural function is restored. Reiki differs from other healing methods in that a specific attunement process is used to prepare students for the flow of healing energy. This protects them from either transmitting or absorbing any negative energetic patterns. Reiki is often used as a complementary treatment to standard medical care or psychotherapy. It can also serve as an essential tool in ones spiritual practice. (The John Harvey Gray Center for Reiki Healing)
Myofascial Release
This is a basic form of soft tissue release. Being the base of most intricate hands-on work, MFR takes a restricted area of fascial tissue in the body and with either direct or indirect techniques, helps the body unravel/unwind the area. This internal restriction can have dramatic effects on the body proper, posture, and basic functionality.
Ian’s Own Blend Of Techniques
Besides the above techniques, Ian has used his innate gifts, talents and experience to create his own special intuitive corrective techniques that are respectful of and responsive to the individual patient he is treating. Many of his patients have difficulty describing exactly all the healing things that they feel and sense during the treatment.
