Career Athlete

“There should be an option that allows you to give Ian more than 5/5 stars. I've been an athlete for my entire life. Competing in rugby for the last 26 years and a professional personal trainer for the past 12 years. Needless to say, my body has been through a lot! I first met Ian 20 years ago. I was at my whit's end with a horrible case of sciatica. Traditional PT failed and did not want to continue constantly taking medications for the searing pain. After two sessions and some slight "this isn't going to work" moments in my head, Ian's method unlocked the miss-alignment in my hips and the pain was drastically reduced, zero pain within the next couple of days. I will never forget this. Ever since that moment, Ian taught me that chronic pain doesn't have to be "normal". From then on, unless I required surgery, Ian has been my PT. I have used Ian for multiple injuries that have occurred in the gym or on the rugby field. Ian's method of using your body's energy to re-align itself, wake up sleeping muscles and knowledge of how to keep it that way is truly second to none.” J.H.

Effective, Out-Of-The-Box Protocol

“I"ve been seeing Ian now for about two years for continued, residual effects of Lyme disease and I can say that he has always been able to provide the perfect reset for my body. I have seen him for a variety of things, including increasing energy, rebalancing my nervous system, and calming anxiety. He is a wealth of information and he is great at recommending homeopathic treatments and supplements. I especially appreciate how accommodating he is with his appointment times, and he always runs on time, which is unusual for health professionals these days. I have recommended him a number of times to friends and colleagues, who also have unusual health situations, and Ian is great at finding an effective, out-of-the-box, protocol.” L.F.

Back Surgeon Thought Surgery To Fuse My Vertebrae

I have always been active. I taught aerobics in my twenties, competed in multiple bike and running races, ran 2 marathons—one at the age of fifty, Crossfit, bootcamp classes, Pilates, yoga…

Last April, I found myself sitting behind my computer with a heat pad in constant nagging back pain. Prior to this I’d been diagnosed with an L4/L5 slippage and arthritis—PT worked at first, but then it didn’t. Chiropractor worked at first, but then made it worse. I sought the opinion of a back doctor/surgeon who suggested cortisone shots and eventually, he thought, surgery to fuse my vertebrae. I thought, this can’t be happening to me.

And then I remembered a woman I met who had terrible back issues, but found relief from something called Myofascial release and Craniosacral therapy. I did a search on my insurance website trying to find a physical therapist who specialized in this and came upon Eclectic Physical Therapy—which sounded right. This is how I found Ian RubInstein.

I was skeptical. All Ian did was place his hands under my back. How could something so noninvasive “cure” me? But then I felt the movement in my body—the forces within my body working to recalibrate the damage I’d done over the years from various falls/accidents, from exercise, from living—and I started to believe. Things started happening—my body began to return to homeostasis. It took some time, and as Ian says, any change is good. With each session I would tell him what was going on—sometimes the issues radiated from my hip, other times my back. He is a really good listener—and along with his treatments he prescribed various stretches to compliment the treatment. And then he recommended a supplement which worked like a charm. I just returned from a vacation where I hiked up and down very challenging, rocky and vertical mountains, and my back did not trouble me at all. Incredible. Months ago, had I taken a misstep on pavement, I would have felt a jarring in my back.

I feel my body getting stronger and my movements more forgiving. There had been so many things I’d been avoiding—not just exercise, but loading the dishwasher, cleaning the house---all of these activities with the potential to cause some sort of pain. I hadn’t realized how much, over time, I had just accepted as fact—getting old and having to accept these limitations. It doesn’t have to be this way! I now feel again this sense of possibility that had been missing from my life for quite some time.

I am so grateful for Ian’s help in recovering physically and mentally. LE K

Suffered From Chronic Problems With My Neck

“I suffered from a chronic problem with my neck, and after about 8 - 12 sessions with Ian the pain and tenseness subsided and now that long period of chronic pain is just a bad memory. He also treated me for shoulder pain and taught me how to stretch to avoid surgery. When I need physical therapy I call Ian, and over the years I’ve recommended Ian to many friends and family members. He’s the best!” H.M.

Body Whisperer…”

“I have seen many PT's over the years due to body aches, and Ian is the best at treating "dis-ease" in the body. He has an incredible knowledge of how the body works, and how to put it back together when it doesn't. Through therapy, specific stretches, changes in nutrition and movements, Ian does it all. I have recommended him to numerous family members and friends, and we often refer to him as the "body whisperer." Give it a try! You will be happy you did.” D.N.

“I have tried other physical therapists without much relief. Met Ian at the gym and decided to give him a try. Best decision ever. He has taken me from much pain to no pain. I continue to meet with him whenever I need to. Seeing is believing.” K.W.
